Twilight Solar Storm

This is one of my all-time favorites. A very active aurora developed during the evening twilight. The combination led to a color explosion in the sky leading to a rare set up of blue, purple, and green vertical pillars spiking through 2 horizontal green bands of light and the orange glow of twilight. All of this occurred over the remnants of a shipwreck at Whitefish Point, Michigan.
A solar storm flared up in the sky right at twilight and continued non-stop for 6+ hours along the Lake Superior coastline at Whitefish Point on October 11-12th 2017. November 2017 photo of the month.
